Statement
Figurative and abstract, painting and decoration, art and craftsmanship.
I create compositional paintings that explore the boundaries between opposing elements and juxtapose them within a single canvas.
In my work, motifs do not convey specific narratives or symbolism. I eliminate chance and construct the canvas through the relationships between deliberate visual elements such as form, color, repetition, and density.
Rather than fusing these elements to blur their distinctions, I place them side by side while maintaining clear boundaries, thereby creating a tension that hovers between order and chaos.
Another foundational layer that shapes my work is my personal view of religion.
I draw inspiration from concepts such as cyclicality and animism, as well as the structural order found in Pure Land gardens and architecture.
